STAR MAP

A Typography brief, where the aim was to create a list in some design form. Through a fascination of space and the universe, I decided upon creating a list about the stars in our galaxy to our sun. Through sheets of acetate paper I demonstrated this. Because there are so many stars I had to narrow the field down to 10 parsecs, or 32 light years.

Using the Star symbol (*) each star is represented by a different typeface. The reason for using acetate paper was to help create a form of density. If you were to look at the sky at night, you'd only see a fraction of how many stars are out there. Through so many sheets of acetate, the pages at the back are lost, only becoming more visible when you lift each sheet. To strengthen the design message, I also reduced the size of each * symbol on each sheet. This was done to help identify, like in reality, the closer something is, the bigger it is, and the further away it is, the tinier it becomes.
