Justification Station

A consumerism brief - to come up with a way to encourage customers to buy products.

The thought behind the eventual idea was in essence, a simple ironic statement. The majority of people when they shop would like someone to go shopping with them for their opinion. Whether it is bad or good depends on whether an individual buys the product. Or after having bought an item, they liked to be told they look fantastic in it, regardless to whether they do or not. Individuals like to be told they look nice/lovely in what they wear; it boosts ego, self-esteem and self confidence.

This device does just that, when stood underneath, in a soothing voice, comforting and flattering messages are conveyed to the consumer, justifying the purchase.

The device was built by wrapping paper at the base of a metal pole, attaching an umbrella to the top and placing a speaker inside. Finally, fabric was sewn around the body frame to give it a nice finish. The reason for the fabric and colour choices was to give the final product a more elegant and attracting display.
